Bicycle transport on the Waldviertelbahn is free of charge. Only a limited number of bicycles are possible. Obligatory free reservation for bicycle transport spaces at the Infocenter.
A flat rate of € 6.00 per day will be charged for transporting a dog .
(Dog muzzle and lead compulsory!)
The reduced rate applies to the following persons:
- Senior citizens aged 65 and over
- Holders of the Lower Austrian Family Pass and the Upper Austrian Family Card
- Passengers with a disability of 70 % or more (note in disability pass)
- Group discount from 20 persons (every 21st person free of charge)
- School group discount from 20 pers. (21st & 22nd pers. free)
- Off-peak fare concessions (ATF)
- Holders of the climate ticket.
Further discounts:
- Disabled accompanying person free of charge if noted in the disabled person's pass
- Assistance dog free of charge if noted in the disability pass
Lower Austria Card (Niederösterreich CARD):
Holders of the Niederösterreich CARD can use the Waldviertelbahn once a year free of charge with the NÖ-CARD for a return journey on diesel trains Gmünd-Groß Gerungs plus Gmünd-Litschau. The Niederösterreich CARD is not recognised on steam trains.
Notes:
- The Waldviertelbahn company tariff applies on the trains
- ÖBB discount offers (e.g. VorteilsCard, ÖsterreichCard, Einfach-Raus-Ticket, etc.) are not valid
- No free travel with the KlimaTicket
- Transport association tickets (e.g. bus tickets or season tickets) are not recognised
Purchase tickets:
- You can book your ticket online in the webshop of Niederösterreich Bahnen.
- A ticket machine is available for you at Gmünd railway station.
- You can also buy tickets directly on the train at no extra charge. Payment in cash or by debit or credit card possible.
- You can obtain journey and price information from the Lower Austria Railways Information Centre.
- Reservations can also be made at the Niederösterreich Bahnen Infocenter.
